The aim of the problem is to minimize the cumulative lead time of the overall production schedule for on-time delivery, and to reduce the travelling distance of vehicle. The problem of delivery time minimization is formulated as Rank-Order Clustering. The parts to the same machines are groped to reduce the travel distance of the vehicle and to reduce the lead time. For industrial sized problems, an effective solution is developed for manufacturing schedule and material handling operations by finding critical path of an integrated operations network.
