An optimized estimation of parameters of software reliability growth models is the matter of concern as the accurate prediction of reliability depends on these parameters. There are several methods to estimate the parameters like traditional MLE (Maximum Likelihood Estimation), Particle Swarm Optimization, Least Square etc. The main objective of this paper is to estimate the parameters using Least Square method which is based on Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process (NHPP) to assess the reliability of software using Statistical Process Control (SPC) mechanism. The paperdocuments the control mechanism to develop the control charts to assess the software reliability by specifying whether the process is under the control or out of control. The investigation is made on various Software Reliability Growth Models (SRGM’s)and the results are exhibited for live data sets.
